Quadraphonic is a new type of music publication. Or maybe, in a way, it's the old kind of music publication. You see, lately music journalism has become more of an advertisement for the kind of music with enough money to buy positive publicity. The problem with this (which should be self evident) is that there is an endless amount of talent below that certain glass ceiling of corporate sponsorship for music, if you will. In short: some of the best music ever made will not be heard by more than a handful of people, because the artists and their record label don't have enough money or influence to buy a review in Rolling Stone.

That's where Quadraphonic comes in.

Quadraphonic is run by a small group of music lovers (or music nerds, I guess it depends on where you stand) who want to promote local music for their area. It started with Heritage Productions, a local comany dedicated to promoting live shows around the Rochester, NY area. Heritage was a wild success, and soon the decision was made to branch out. What the future holds for Heritage, nobody knows. Record labels, management agencies, distribution deals for up and coming artists, who knows?

One thing that was definite: Heritage needed to branch out it's promotion. After some brainstorming, Quadraphonic was born. Think of it as an equal opporitunity music publication, giving just as much publicity to struggling garage bands and starving artist types as it does to the national-level groups.

After getting in touch with a few local artists, our suspicions were confirmed: local artists are starving for publicity. Almost all the artists we got in touch with were dying to get involved. The result: a tight-er knit music community. And we hope to keep serving the public with the same kind of attitude.

If you are interested in local music, and keeping it alive, we suggest you stick around, interact with other locals in the forum, hell, even feel free to contribute, we're always looking for new talent. And if you've got a band and want a little promotion, feel free to email us: quadraphonicmag@gmail.com.
